Over the weekend NYC had our first real snow of the Winter.
Also, BigCartel had approached us to be featured on their blog and they put up the feature just last Friday. They asked some pretty good questions, hopefully you guys dig the feature. If you have a minute, we definitely suggest you check it out – you’ll probably learn a thing or two about the brand that you didn’t know.

When I first moved here I noticed this all black brick building. They must have just painted it, because it was pretty bare in terms of graffiti. It’s been becoming less and less bare since then and is one of my favorite walls to walk past (I’m a sucker for black brick, so what) so I figured I’d post a few photos of it up on here.

Well 2012 is finally here. Hoping everyone had a great NYE and is enjoying the new year thus far. We’ll continue to showcase the designs from our newest collection and today’s post will also give you a bit of an inside look at the design process and how we like to use as much original imagery as possible.
The RED, BLACK & BLUES Tee is printed on a premium, slim-fit crew neck tee and features a vintage American flag graphic with a bold shout to the country’s two busiest cities. Printed on 100% combed cotton and also features a top back print of our ‘Swords’ logo.
Now usually I wouldn’t share this much of our design process on this blog but this design is a personal favorite of mine and wanted to show you the thoughts and work that went into creating it. As most of you reading this blog know I recently moved from my hometown of Los Angeles over to the East coast, and am currently living in New York City. While Southern California has always had a heavy influence on the aesthetic of the brand I knew it would only be natural to for some hints of life NYC to start to make their way into a few of our upcoming designs. LA and NY are two of my favorite cities in the country and definitely wanted to incorporate that into a design. Earlier this year we shot a friend of ours to use in the design.
The hardest past when you’re shooting your own stuff to use in designs is that you usually have a ton of options. We had quite a few poses and photos to choose from but ended up going with the above. It’s always cool to see the process and progression of a design, especially taking a photo like this and having the end result come out how it did.
